Frame sizes are usually in the format “50 - 20 – 140”. In this example this means that the lens diameter is 50mm the bridge distance is 20mm and the arm length is 140mm.
You can use this as a guideline by comparing them to your own glasses
HOWEVER, this is NOT the BEST way to obtain a good fitting frame. At spex4less I have added two further measurements that are FAR easier to understand and ensure a much better result.

Most common question asked is “Why can’t you buy varifocals online?”
First let me explain a little how Varifocals work.
I am sure you probably know this but Varifocals blend gradually from your Distance prescription Through your intermediate prescription into your Reading prescription.
This means that the exact point of the distance part of the lens needs to be set at the same height as your pupil (This needs to be millimetre perfect).
The way we would normally measure this in the practice is to place the frame on the patient and measure the distance between the patients pupil and the bottom rim of the new frame in millimetres.
