The 2009 STP 2 is the entry level model in the series, benefiting from the same tough frame as the more expensive models, but compromising on the component choice in order to deliver a hard wearing, hard-hitting jump bike with all-round street, trails, trials and skatepark versatility at a more affordable price.

The difference is that the build kit has been selected purely for durability, whereas the higher priced STP models use lighter weight, higher performance parts.

The use of linear pull brakes instead of disc brakes is the most noticable price concession, which don’t offer quite the same performance levels, but on the other hand can be easier and cheaper to maintain, especially if you haven’t tried disc brakes before.

Incidentally, the STP 2 is equipped with disc specific wheel hubs and the forks have disc mounts, so you can upgrade to disc brakes later if you feel the need.
